Nanomaterials and 3D printing on the tile, against climate change

June 04, 2018

Environmental sustainability is one of the main challenges of today's society. To respond to this challenge, Aimplas, the Technological Institute of Plastic, participates since last January as coordinator in the Carmof project, which aims to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases that produce global warming.

The capture of CO2 is currently carried out using inefficient technologies that entail a high energy consumption. The Carmoft project aims to build a complete demonstrator of a new process for the capture and separation of CO2 based on the use of nanomaterials (graphene, carbon nanotubes and MOF) in combination with membranes. Custom designed and manufactured using 3D printing technologies, these innovative structures will be installed at the emission points of the ceramic, petrochemical and iron and steel industries.

This project opens the way to an unprecedented CO2 capture technology. From the point of view of the development of materials, the expected innovations are related to an increase in the area of adsorption of the same, while the recovery of CO2 will be carried out through new advanced heating technologies highly efficient as those that make possible the application of the Joule effect.

The project lasts 48 months and has received funding from the European Union's H2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement number 760884. A total of 15 partners from nine different countries participate.

Aimplas is the Plastic Technology Institute located in Valencia and is registered in the Registry of Technological Centers of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. It belongs to the Spanish Federation of Technological Centers, FEDIT, and to the Network of Technological Institutes of the Valencian Community, REDIT.

Aimplas is a non-profit entity that aims to act as a technological partner of companies related to the plastics sector by offering an integral and personalized solution through the coordination of R + D + I projects and technological services (analysis and testing, advice technical, training and competitive and strategic intelligence).

Tecnargilla 2018 will launch an area on 'green' technology

May 28, 2018

Tecnargilla 2018, which will be held in the city of Rimini from September 24 to 28, expands its offer with a new area to increase the interest of the fair, which is already the most important within the subsector of supplies for the ceramic industry.

The transalpine event, which already has areas such as Claytech, Kromatech and T-White, incorporates in 2018 GreenTech, the new monographic exhibition dedicated to technologies and products capable of reducing consumption and emissions, as well as improving performance and profitability of the manufacturing processes.

This is one of Tecnargilla's new initiatives, which reflects the concern of the global industry for having high-performance solutions in terms of energy efficiency, emission reduction, industrial waste recycling and water saving as part of the concept of circular economy promoted by the new European regulations.

The tile returns to raise the voice by the high cost of the gas

January 01, 2020

The tile sector once again raises its voice about the high cost of gas, the energy on which it bases its activity, and demands that the hydrocarbon tax be repealed, because it is "an unbearable burden for export activity". The words are from the secretary general of the employers Ascer, Pedro Riaza, who participated yesterday in Madrid in the round table The industrial future of Spain and gas, along with other consumer companies.

He did so at the Gas Industrial Forum, organized by the Gas Industrial association, which includes the most important ceramic companies, as well as UBE Corporation Europe.

At the meeting, Riaza asked that tolls be eliminated for energy consumption and argued that 54% of the gas bill of tile manufacturers corresponds to fuel and the remaining 46% to tolls and regulated costs. This provokes, said Ascer's general secretary, that in Spain a producer pays twice as much for gas as a Frenchman, six times more than a German and eight times as much as an Italian.

Cevisama 2019 will add a new pavilion to its commercial offer

January 01, 2020

Cevisama opens the official marketing period for its next edition, which will be held from January 28 to February 1, 2019. The fair Feria Valencia, after exceeding the 800 exhibitors and the 90,500 professional visitors in its last appointment, faces a new call with the foresight to grow back in exhibition area.

In fact, will offer from the beginning a total of nine pavilions, as the growing demand of companies in the ceramic sector and bathroom equipment will make this sector also occupy, pavilion N2 P6, a pavilion with own access from the North Forum of the fairground and located next to the rest of the Cevisama showcase: pavilions 1, 2, 3 and 4 of levels 2 and 3.

Floors and ceramic coverings; frits, enamels and ceramic colors; bathroom equipment; materials of grip and tooling for floors and tiles, and natural stone will shape the proposals of Cevisama 2019, an edition in which the contest aims to strengthen the constant path of growth and improvement of the international positioning achieved in recent years.

In addition, in the next edition, Feria Valencia will host, coinciding with Cevisama, the Espacio Cocina-SICI exhibition, a reference meeting in Spain for furniture and kitchen equipment. A complementary room that shares marketing channels and visitor profiles with Cevisama, which will provide a new incentive for the visit.

Cevisama, as agreed by the organizing committee at its last meeting, will maintain its commitment to internationalization, both from the point of view of supply and demand. And, in this sense, it has already launched ambitious promotion campaigns in the national market and in the main foreign markets -mainly the European market, the United States and Canada, without forgetting the countries of the East and Russia, the Middle East and the north of Africa-.

In this regard, Cevisama is closing agreements with the large associations of distributors from different countries to guarantee its presence at the fair. And, in the same way, it is reaching various agreements with groups of interior designers, architects and designers, a profile linked to the Contract channel that is increasingly important for ceramic and bathroom manufacturers.

"Cevisama 2019 will be a historic edition because it will mark the consolidation of the fair as a benchmark around the world and, for the sensations that we are having since the end of the last edition, we are sure that we will experience an important growth in ceramics, in bathroom and natural stone. From this moment, we have to give everything to fill the aisles of distributors and prescribers. And that is our commitment to the exhibitor, "says Manuel Rubert, president of Cevisama.

The ceramic that emulates natural stone sets a trend

May 21, 2018

The appearance of natural stone makes its way into interior design through stone aesthetics. A sophisticated and timeless trend capable of transforming the interior of spaces.

Elegance is born of simple forms. Of the spaces without ornament.

Its sober and delicate design gives the whole a neutral and minimalist aesthetic in all its tonalities.

This year also the walls bet on this current. The versatility of the aesthetic natural stone has conquered the interior coverings because it adapts with great skill to the different environments and styles of the home.

A resource that extols the resistance of the exterior and interior walls, as well as the kitchen fronts and the interior walls of the shower.

Coexistence of raw textures
Another of the most striking options is to incorporate the appearance of natural stone in its crudest version.

Its finish guarantees unprecedented relief and volume and simulates an original scale structure.

The tile unions are advancing and a stage of protests

May 14, 2018

The main trade unions representative of the tile industry are already preparing a mobilization calendar with which they intend to gain the pulse of the employers and, in this way, achieve better conditions for the new collective agreement that is currently being negotiated, with very far positions Between the parts.

If last Friday, UGT decided in assembly its intention to raise the tone of its discontent, yesterday it was the turn of CCOO, in whose meeting with workers it became clear the roundness of its argument when criticizing the business position, which he describes as "immobile" and which he accused of demanding "more flexibility and precariousness as a requirement to sign the agreement," union sources explained.

So, today UGT and CCOO will work to outline these pressure actions towards Ascer, as an interlocutor of the negotiation, which goes on to draw up a calendar of actions such as the celebration of protests, without ruling out work stoppages, but with an eye on to gestures that leave the employer in a staging that is not new in this sector. In this scenario, CCOO said Monday they want to make clear that "they are not willing to have to endure the worst of the crisis, with job losses, the recovery only appear in the profit accounts" , as noted from the union, while from Ascer it was preferred not to make valuations. The unions representing the sector, which brings together more than 15,000 direct workers and another 25,000 indirect workers in the province, agree that "they do not understand that, given the change in the economic cycle, the agreement is now paralyzed."

The employers already proposed an agreement with a validity of three years with an annual increase of 1.4%, linked to the maintenance of the current day and other issues agreed in the last agreement.
